It has been more than a year since the first TransHawkesbury Conference on Neuroprostheses was held and some remarkable accomplishments have taken place since then – including those in the areas of optical imaging, mathematical modeling, implantable electronics, image processing and associated hardware, microelectrodes, and a wealth of other areas.

We now have physiological studies taking place at both universities with the fledgling FES program taking shape at The University of Newcastle and the ongoing neurophysiology work at UNSW.As our branches of research have grown, so too have our numbers and in a sense, this is part of the motivation for the conference – to help us remain the closeknit,goodnatured and productive group that we are.
